ALREADY displaying its dominance on the hardcourt during the last four years, LaSalle seems to be setting its sights on establishing another dynasty as it clinched its second consecutive victory over arch-rival Ateneo, 119-94, in the 15th La SalleAteneo Golf Classic at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club.
Although more players from Ateneo showed up (295 to La Salle's 245), the Green Archers proved once more that they were better on the golf course than the Blue Eagles.
The total attendance of 540 players in the three-day event turned out to be the 2nd largest in the Classic's history. The Ateneans actually wrested control of the lead, 84-80, after two days of competition. The Eagles banked on the big points earned by its players in the 30-39 and 40-49 age group categories, while putting up a decent fight in the 20-29 and 50-59 categories. However, having a habit of coming from behind, La Salle made its charge on the final day. The Archers unleashed their deadly form as golfers on the Ladies, Seniors and Juniors categories nearly blanked their Eagle counterparts to capture back-to-back titles.
The event culminated with the awarding ceremonies at the National Sports Grill in Greenbelt, Makati City.
